Thomas E. Statler

Thomas E. Statler, age 84 of Greencastle, PA passed away at 4:00 AM Friday, October 20, 2017 in the Menno Haven Nursing Center in Chambersburg. He had been in declining health the past several months.

Born November 22, 1932 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late D.J. Raymond and Nellie Blanche (Hoover) Statler. He married his wife Pearl K. (Leininger) Statler in 1954.

Tom retired after 41 years employment with the Western Maryland and Chessie System Railroads and also enjoyed being a farmer most of his life.

He attended faithfully the Ebenezer “Guitners” United Brethren Church near Greencastle. Tom was a life member of the United Transportation Union and was a member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6319 of Greencastle. Tom was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving family in addition to his wife of 63 years are one son Stacey Statler (Stacey Foreman) of Greencastle, one granddaughter, Kayla Statler of Chambersburg, two great- grandsons, Daelyn Thomas Statler and Brycen Teller, two sisters, Frances Keller, resident of the Quincy Village, Evelyn Thompson of Greencastle, one brother Robert Statler of Greencastle and loving and caring friends Tim and Cheryl Hill of Greencastle and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by six brothers, Charles Statler, David Statler, Donald Statler, Ivan Statler, Richard Statler and Carroll Dean Statler.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 26 at 10:30 AM at the Ebenezer "Guitners” United Brethren Church 3661 Williamson Rd. Greencastle with Pastors David Grove and Murray Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle and at the church one hour before the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his memory to the Ebenezer United Brethren Church C/O Faith In Focus, 3661 Williamson Rd. Greencastle, PA 17225.
