Rose Marie (Gsell) Virts, age 79 of Rohrersville, MD died Saturday morning March 24, 2018 in Doey’s Hospice House in Hagerstown.

Born August 13, 1938 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clyde W. and Edna May (Rebuck) Gsell. Her husband John Virts died in 1998.

She retired from the United Telephone Co. where she worked as an operator. Rose Marie was a 1957 graduate of Greencastle High School. She attended the Boonsboro Family Worship Center, was a member of the Red Hat Society and a local widows group. Rose Marie enjoyed traveling, outdoor activities and spending time with her family.

Surviving family are four brothers Gene E. Gsell of Florida, Paul R. Gsell of Shippensburg, PA, Dr. Ray Gsell of North Carolina, Lynn E. Gsell of Zullinger, PA, 15 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother H. Jacob Gsell and an infant sister Pauline Gsell.

A graveside memorial service for Rose Marie will be held on Friday April 6 at 10:00 AM at the Cedar Hill Cemetery Greencastle. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Washington County 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21742. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com
