Martha Lee (Stephey) Ferry

Martha Lee (Stephey) Ferry, age 85 of Carey Dr. Chambersburg, PA died at 11:25 AM Wednesday February 28, 2018 in her home.

Born February 7, 1933 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Luther W. and Ada (Morgal) Stephey. She married her husband Fred W. Ferry on October 1, 1955. He died on November 5, 2005.

She was a 1950 graduate of Greencastle High School and attended Hagerstown Business School having studied stenography and accounting. Martha Lee began working as a bookkeeper at the YMCA in Hagerstown and then became a telephone operator at the Greencastle Telephone Exchange. After raising her family, she was the bookkeeper at a family owned business and last worked as a clerk for Antrim Township

She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Greencastle where she and her husband sang on the choir. Martha Lee enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, cooking and trying new recipes. She loved her pets, cats and her faithful companion Sparky her dog. In her younger years she bowled and was a member of the Rockette Bowling League in Hagerstown.

Surviving family are two daughters Lou Ann Myers and husband Bill of Orrtanna, PA, Holly Wiestling and husband Sid of Greencastle, PA, two grandsons, Adam Wiestling and wife Kelli and Evon Wiestling, one great-grandson Crue Wiestling and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Harry Stephey Sr. and a sister Jean Stephey Maun.

Funeral services will be held on Monday March 5 at 2:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Chaplain Daniel Summers officiating. Burial will be in the Browns Mill Cemetery Kauffman, PA. There will be no public viewing but the family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday  from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care And Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17202 or to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter 5051 Letterkenny Rd.
