 M. Lowella Bingaman

M. Lowella (Weikert) Bingaman, age 95 of Zullinger, PA died Thursday morning April 6, 2017 in the Waynesboro Hospital.

Born May 21, 1921 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Ellsworth  Weikert Sr. and Mary Kathryn (Zearfoss) Weikert. She married her husband Lloyd Oliver Bingaman on September 29, 1945 in Waynesboro. He died on March 22, 2009.

Lowella and her husband worked together as a team and were co-owners of the Bingaman’s Body Shop & Salvage Yard and Bingaman’s Pleasant View Community of Zullinger. In her earlier years she worked at the former Waynesboro Knitting Mill and Fairchild Aircraft. She also served as Notary Public for a number of years.

She was a 1939 graduate of Waynesboro High School. Lowella enjoyed traveling, camping, reading and knitting, especially knitting sweaters for World Vision. She enjoyed being a volunteer for many years at the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Library in Waynesboro.

Surviving  family are two daughters, Alice Suzanne "Suzy" Martz of Martinsburg, WV and Amy Linette Cline  and husband Michael of Zullinger, PA., two sons, Perry Lloyd Bingaman  and wife Beverly of Chambersburg, PA and Jerrold Boyd Bingaman and wife Tammy L. of Zullinger, PA.,  nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one brother, William Daniel Weikert of Spring Hill, FL, one sister, Alice Elaine Stilts of Zullinger, PA and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mary Beth Bingaman, two brothers, Eugene Z. Weikert and Oliver E. Weikert Jr. and son-in-law Larry A. Martz.

Funeral services will be held on Monday April 10 at 1:00 PM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Rev. Richard A. Heinbaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pleasant Hall, PA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Library  45 East Main St. Waynesboro, PA 17268 or to the Salvation Army, 159 Lincoln Way West Chambersburg, PA 17201.
