John "Johnny" Cary Young

 John “Johnny” Cary Young, age 50 of Greencastle, PA passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at WellSpan York Hospital.

Johnny was born February 1, 1967 in Charlottesville, VA to Cary and Mary Jane Young. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1991. On August 29, 1992 he married Wendy Walter in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Johnny was employed as a Social worker at Waynesboro and Chambersburg hospitals. He was an avid fan of the Orioles, Notre Dame, and the Washington Redskins. Johnny led the stroke club support group, coached multiple sports teams, and he enjoyed helping people.

Johnny is survived by his two sons, Cody & Josh, his wife Wendy, his mother and stepfather Mary Jane and John Kerrigan, his sister Ruth Anne Young, his brother Jim.

A viewing will be held at the Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home in Greencastle on Wednesday, August 16 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church 385 S. Ridge Ave. Greencastle on Thursday, August 17 at 11:00 AM with Father Kyle Sahd officiating.  Following the mass, interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle. There will be a gathering at the family home after the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be mailed to 483 Century Drive Greencastle, PA 17225.
