Jackie A. “Jack” Baer Sr., age 73 of Greencastle, PA died at 10:00 AM Friday, October 7, 2016 in the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD following complications from recent surgery.

Born October 29, 1942 in Guilford Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Daniel “Vic” and Evelyn (Diehl) Baer. He was a lifelong resident of the Greencastle and Waynesboro areas.  He married his wife Donna (Trobaugh) Baer on August 9, 1963 in Hagerstown, MD.

Jack was a graduate of Waynesboro High School Class of 1960. After graduation, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard 104th Armored Calvary. He worked at Landis Tool Co.  and retired from Mack Truck Hagerstown after 30 years of “Blood, Sweat and Gears.” Last, he had been working for Sanders Furniture Refinishing of Waynesboro up until the time of his death. He took great pride in his ability in working with wood and refinishing furniture. He was of the Christian faith.

Surviving family in addition to his wife Donna of 53 years are, three children; Jackie A. Baer Jr., Amy J. Foreman, Richard L. Baer and wife Tracy, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, two brothers, John “Bud” Baer, Joseph Baer, two sisters, Bernice “Sissy” Berger, Jane Winters, a number of nieces and nephews and his buddy Tinker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Maxine “Susie” Wolfinger, brothers-in-law Richard “Brud” Wolfinger, William “Bill” Berger, sister-in-law Sandy (Quier) Baer, nephews Jeffrey Berger, Greg Baer and Larry Wolfinger.

Jack loved spending time with his family and friends and especially all his grandkids. He also enjoyed going to the hunting camp in Potter County, PA.

 A Celebration of Life Service  will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 1:00 PM at the Greencastle Sportsman Clubhouse, 3260 Sportsman Rd. Greencastle. Bring memories you have of Jack to share with friends and family on the 29th which would have been Jack's 74th birthday. Memorial contributions  may be given in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
