Elizabeth T. “Betty” Streeper

Elizabeth T. “Betty” (Thompson) Streeper, age 91, formerly of Greencastle, PA died  Sunday morning December 3, 2017 in the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg, PA.

Born August 20, 1926 in Langhorne, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alfred L. and Sarah (Grover) Thompson. She married her husband Robert C. Streeper Sr. on October 21, 1950. He died on December 5, 2001.

Betty worked at the former AMP Inc. of Waynesboro, PA for 13 years retiring in 1991. Following retirement, she worked part-time for K-Mart in Chambersburg from 1992-1998.

She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring in Chambersburg. Previously, Betty was an active member for many years of the Greencastle Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and was a member of the Women’s Group. She was also a member of the Mt. Vernon Chapter #398 Order of the Eastern Star, Waynesboro.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of Bensalem High School and attended the Drexel Institute of Technology.

Surviving family are one son Markley Streeper, one daughter, Elizabeth L. “Betsy” Schoonover and husband Donn of Chambersburg, PA, granddaughter, Laura Schoonover and husband Michael Ebersole, three grandsons, Michael Schoonover, Ryan Schoonover; Donovan (wife Vada) Streeper, who is the son of Nancy & James Stottlemyer of Waynesboro.

 In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Robert C. Streeper Jr. on November 17, 2017 and a brother Howard G. Thompson in 1984.

It was Betty’s request that her body be donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry for medical research. A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 16 at 3:00 PM at The Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring Chapel 221 N. Main St. Chambersburg with Rev. Dr. William Harter and Rev. Dr. Andrew Hart officiating. The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour before the service on Saturday Dec. 16.  Burial at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Greencastle will be later at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her memory to the Coyle Free Library 102 North Main St. Chambersburg, PA 17201. Online condolences may be expressed at www.zimmermanfh.com.
