Constance  “Connie” J. Cramer

Connie Cramer, age 88, of Greencastle, PA since 2003 and a resident of Brookview Health Care Center at Menno Haven in Chambersburg, PA since March 2017, died at 3:01 PM on Sunday, July 16, 2017 in the nursing center.

Born January 18, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Trygve and Helen (Olsen) Holmgren and the sister of Joan Volonte of Pittsford, NY and the late John P.Holmgren of Colorado. Her husband of 67 years, Arnold D. Cramer predeceased her in 2015.

Connie, a graduate of Tenafly High School in Tenafly, NJ, studied opera and voice and performed in school musicals and in church. Music was a joy to her. With Arnold, she visited many places around the world via cruise ship – their favorite form of travel. They also shared a love of books and reading. Connie was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Chambersburg VFW Post #1599.

She borrowed her life’s motto from Dr. Seuss: “Don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened.” She was a wise lady, a good friend, and a loving and supportive mom; she shared her heart with many, many people and fur babies.

Surviving family include her sweet companion cat Miss Ruth, her daughter Susan B. Rotondo and husband Nick Rotondo of Greencastle, son, Carl R. Cramer and wife Ariana Langham Cramer of Greencastle, daughter, Caren L. Cramer and husband Alan Kerr of Rohrersville, MD, four grandchildren, Amanda L. Kerr, Evan J. Kerr, Sarah C. Cramer and Elizabeth Nelson, one great-grandson Corbin Kenney, nieces, nephews and her cousin Elle Holmgren and family in Norway and Sharon (Calli) Berg, the widow of her cousin Dr. Ivar Berg of Pittston, PA.

There will be a private family ceremony at their convenience. There will be no viewing. The family is truly grateful for all the support, care and acts of kindness provided by the staff and volunteers of the Brookview Health Care Center at Menno Haven and Grane Hospice Care.

Memorial donations are requested in her memory for the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 or for the Lilian S. Besore Memorial Library, 305 East Baltimore St. Greencastle, PA 17225. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
