Charles L Myers

 

Charles L. Myers, age 84, formerly of St. Thomas, PA died Tuesday evening January 16, 2018 in the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg.

 

Born August 23, 1933 in Antrim Twp. Franklin County, PA, he was the son of the late Irvin L. and Anna Mary (Hawbaker) Myers. He met his wife Anna K. (Isenberger) Myers in high school and they were married on March 22, 1956 in Hagerstown. She died on September 4, 2016.

 

Charles retired after 40 years employment as a payroll clerk with the former Chambersburg Engineering Co. Charles was a 1953 graduate of Chambersburg Area High School.  He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War being stationed in Japan and was honorably discharged in 1955. 

He was a 39 year member of the St. Thomas American Legion Post # 612 where he was a past commander twice. Charles contributed to the advancement of the American Legion Program and activities dedicated to God and Country. He was currently serving as the 22nd District Deputy Commander. Charles received an honorary Korean War Metal on November 17, 2007 from State Representative Mark Keller.

 He was also a member of the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post #1599 and a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church.

 

Surviving family are one son Cameron L. Myers of Greencastle, one sister Mary Hockenberry of Fannettsburg, PA and two nieces and one nephew.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Stefan Myers in 2002.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday January 22 at 10:30 AM at the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle with Pastor Randall Zeiler officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg VFW Post #1599 Honor Guard will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the DAV at www.dav.org.
